We either blame ourselves or we blame others, but either way, there exists the tendency and capacity for evil within all of us. We are not black and white; reality does not exist within these extreme polarities and yet victims so often live within these parameters, both in mood and posture. The filter erected to protect becomes the very source of further isolation, abuse and pain; a cycle which will not stop until there evolves a capacity to see others and the world as it is, not as we would have it be. This piece is the first of many to inhabit not only a softer touch, but the stunning impact of gray and a hint of green. The figure is beautifully imperfect and the scales of an obsessive need to express through dismantling the body are peeling away. The need to punish the body for its betrayal as a child fades and the capacity to nurture and love what became a source of utter disgust emerges.
