Dark fruits, soft texture and a lovely mouthfeel, this is a smooth and satisfying Portuguese red from the region just outside Lisbon. Some people even buy it for the label! The climatic influences of heat (from its latitude) and sea breezes (from the, erm, sea) create a balance in the wine that prevents under-ripeness and over-ripeness, delivering a gorgeous mouthful, time after time. Delicious reds from Portugal are becoming more and more available and this one even has a dog on the label. We're not the biggest fans of over-doing a label, but in this example (we happen to think the label is pretty poor...) it's lovely to see people coming back again and again because of the quality in the wine! It's that simple - when a wine is really deserving of attention, you'll forgive a label - whether over the top or under the table... And now for a pun. How much is that doggy on the vin, though?
