These beautiful Labradorite slices are from Madagascar and are polished on the top leaving the other sides natural. You will receive one slice, each one is approx 25 - 50mm across and has been selected to have a good colour flash. The photos show an example of the ones we have available, photos taken in direct sunlight. Labradorite is a feldspar which often has rainbow coloured flashes, called labradorescence. It is named after Labador, Canada, where is was first found, although it can be found in many countries, including Australia, the Adirondack mountains in New York, and most famously Madagascar. The most common colours for Labradorite are blue, green and gold, with reds, pinks and purples being a lot rarer. Gem quality Labradorite, called Spectrolite, can be found only in Finland, with a black base colour and high contrast colour flashes. "Spectrolite" from other countries is just high quality Labradorite.
