Limited Edition of two2016 Book measures 5” × 9.5” × 2” closed Artist book collaboration between Rhiannon Alpers and Penelope Anstruther. The artist book is in an edition of two, and bound with hand-cut slate tile covers sourced from found materials. The media for this books is mono-printed backgrounds , and polymer plates on the letterpress. The type was created using Penelope's handwriting converted to polymer plates print the pages. Bound in a flush-mounted board book style, the work incorporates colored leather inserts peeking through segments at the fore-edge, evoking the striations of sedimentary rock. Its substantial weight and dense surface invite reflection on the immensity of the universe, drawing parallels between the mineral foundations of geology and the mysteries of space.
