Meet the "aphid lion" 🦁 — the fierce larva of the green lacewing (Chrysoperla), and one of nature's most effective aphid hunters. A single larva can devour up to 600 aphids as it g rows! How it works Native to Sweden, the larva grabs each aphid in its sickle-shaped jaws and sucks it dry. It grows from 2–3 mm to around 1 cm over the two weeks it spends feasting. Because alarmed aphids tend to drop from the plant, a fine net around the plant keeps both pest and predator in place for the best results. Works best on low-growing plants and is ideal for tackling concentrated "hot spots". How to use On arrival, tear off the white cover on the box and gently tap the back so the larvae fall onto the plant — there's one larva per compartment, so release a little at a time if you're treating several plants. Set out immediately, or store for a few days at 8–10 °C. Good to know: 500 larvae, covers approximately 10 m².
