We have created chopsticks with wiped lacquer together with Urushi Rindo, a company that was founded in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture in the mid-Edo period and has been carrying on the tradition of Echizen lacquerware for generations. The chopsticks are octagonal in shape, making them easy to hold and less slippery. The durable and water-resistant ironwood is finished with wiped lacquer, which makes use of the wood grain, and the top part is finished with a glossy true coating technique. Enjoy the expression of the wood grain, the transparent color, and the gentle texture. It is said that one side of the chopsticks is used by people and the other by gods, and they are said to bridge people's wishes to the gods. The sign of joy, which is made up of the number seven lined up on the obi wrap, is a sign of joyful items, with the hope that the user will be filled with joy.
