We are proud to offer this high quality, consistent and small-batch crafted product from a family-run business here in the Midwest (Northern Michigan). What Are Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB)? Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) refers to a group of bacteria that produce lactic acid from the consumption and digestion of carbohydrates and sugars. When the lactid acid accumulates, they ferment the carbohydrate source (or pickle the food). LAB are used in the production of yogurt, kimchee, sauerkraut and many other nutritious, probiotic food sources. In horticulture, adding LAB to your soil drenches effectively loosens and conditions your soil to help prevent anerobic conditions from arising. When used as a foliar spray, it has been shown to provide protection against fungal pathogens such as powdery mildew.
