A dining bench is a backless or low-back seating piece designed to pair with dining tables, typically accommodating 2-5 people depending on length. Unlike individual dining chairs, benches offer flexible seating that can tuck under tables and serve multiple functions across entryways, mudrooms, and bedrooms. What You Get With the Furniture Classics Lafayette Bench Extra-Long Seating -- at 78 inches, this bench comfortably seats 4-5 adults for dining or 3 people with generous elbow room. Shaker Simplicity -- the clean-lined oak frame reflects traditional Shaker craftsmanship, fitting contemporary and farmhouse interiors. Heavy-Duty Construction -- oak wood with a 500lb weight capacity handles everyday family use, mudroom storage, and commercial traffic. Burnt Tobacco Finish -- the grey-toned finish complements walnut, oak, and painted furniture without competing with existing wood tones. Multi-Room Versatility -- use it as a dining bench that tucks under a table, an entryway bench, a mudroom seat, or a bedroom accent piece. Substantial Weight -- 65lbs ensures stability during use without tipping or sliding on hardwood or tile floors. Where Do You Use a 78-Inch Wood Bench? Pair the Lafayette Bench with farmhouse or trestle dining tables in dining rooms, or position it in entryways for shoe storage and seasonal gear. Its 17-inch depth and backless design allow it to tuck under tables or float against walls in hallways, mudrooms, and living rooms as impromptu seating or display surfaces. Frequently Asked Questions How long should a dining bench be for a 6 person table? A 60-72 inch bench typically seats 3-4 people and pairs with 72-84 inch tables for six, while this 78-inch model works with 84-96 inch tables. How many people can sit on a 60 inch dining bench? A 60-inch bench seats 3 adults comfortably, allowing 20 inches per person. Can you use a dining bench with any table? Yes, benches pair with most tables if the bench is 6-12 inches shorter than the table length and the seat height matches standard dining chair height (17-19 inches). How much space do you need per person on a dining bench? Allow 18-24 inches of width per person for comfortable dining, meaning this 78-inch bench seats 3-4 people with space.
