Pencil and ink portraits of Lagotto Romagnolo dogs arrange across a soft cream ground, each capturing the breed's signature curly woolen coat through fine looped strokes that suggest the dense Italian water dog's distinctive texture. The faces show alert intelligent expressions with characteristic dark eyes peering through curly forehead fringe, and the bodies carry compact muscular weight despite the soft coat treatment. Some portraits show full standing posture, others show head-and-shoulder studies.Palette holds to two warm notes: ink black-and-gray against soft buttercream, with the ground's warmth flattering the breed's typically pale coloring. The brushwork combines confident outline work for the body forms with intricate looped marks for the coat — each curl rendered as a small individual gesture, accumulating into the breed's distinctive woolly character. Scale alternates between full-body portraits and tighter facial studies, creating natural rhythm across the field.A handsome choice for libraries, mudrooms, dressing rooms, hallways, and the back walls of guest bedrooms in homes where Italian working breeds resonate. Works in restored Tuscan architecture, modern Italianate interiors, English country houses, and traditional homes that want a quiet hand-drawn breed reference. Pairs with worn leather, woven sisal, hand-thrown ceramics, brass picture lights, and warm cream linen. Particularly effective in kitchens and pantries where the breed's truffle-hunting heritage reinforces the culinary setting, or in mudrooms where their water-dog working character matches household activity.
