This painting explores the idea of the 'exhausted image', a sociopolitical image that has been abstracted through the loss of context and resolution by digital circulation. Using o verlayed satellite imagery as a base, the image is digitally cut into overlapping stripes and painted as repetitive vertical pulses, obscuring and further abstracting the image beneath. Through this process, the connection to its source erodes. The work hovers between political and the autonomous, the visible and the obscured, forming a fractured, refracted surface that gestures toward trauma and the deteriorating meaning of images in the age of endless visual traffic.
