Since 1821, generation upon generation of the Barton family have written the chapters of Château Langoa Barton. Owners to this day of the renowned Bordeaux property, awarded Grand Cru Classé status in 1855, Saint Julien is where the roots and the heart of the Barton spirit can be felt. 2022 Wine Advocate 95: The 2022 Langoa Barton has turned out superbly in bottle. Offering up aromas of cassis, blackberries, pencil shavings and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with velvety tannins, lively fruit and a long, penetrating finish. Seamless, integrated and intense, Langoa's more morcellated vineyards means that this estate has, if anything, gained even more from the Barton family's new vat room than its big brother Léoville Barton, as each parcel can now be fermented separately, optimizing its potential. This is the best young Langoa Barton I can remember tasting. James Suckling 96: Quite a classic wine for this hot and dry year. Excellent depth but also freshness, with convincing ripeness and a very long finish. Just medium to full body, with gritty tannins at the end. The fruit sweetness here is restrained. 60% new oak. Drink or hold. Vinous 94: The 2022 Langoa Barton has a wonderful bouquet that has really blossomed since I tasted it from barrel. There is still a trait of Margaux thanks to its wilted violet element, but there may be more graphite and tobacco tones now the wine is in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a precise, sensual finish. It's fresh and definitely a more elegant Langoa compared to recent vintages. Bon vin. 2023 Wine Advocate 93-95: The 2023 Langoa Barton is a very accomplished wine, the family's new winery having permitted more precise, parcel-by-parcel winemaking as well as gentler handling of the fruit to deliver a wine with all this estate's customary intensity of flavor but more polish and refinement. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cassis and plums mingled with hints of pencil shavings and dried rose petals, it's medium to full-bodied, with an inky core of fruit, vibrant acids and plenty of suave structuring tannin. This classic blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc is sure to number among the intelligent purchases of the en primeur campaign. James Suckling 94-95: There’s depth of fruit here with blackberries, blackcurrants and hints of cedar and tobacco. The tannins are very solid and polished with juiciness and depth. Pristine. Bright acidity. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot and 3% cabernet franc. 2025 Wine Advocate 92-94: The 2025 Langoa-Barton was picked between September 4 and 18 and matured in 60% new oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with the Merlot in full effect, blueberry and cassis scents, and just a background touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a lovely caressing texture, very well balanced with a touch of pepperiness towards the persistent finish. What a gorgeous Langoa! James Suckling 95-96: Focused, with volume and drive, it shows aromas of berries, warm spices and some leather. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Structured and compact, with bright fruit at its core. Long, focused finish. 45% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 15% cabernet franc. 3.2 pH. Vinous 92-94: The 2025 Langoa-Barton was picked between September 4 and 18 and matured in 60% new oak barrels. It has a lively bouquet with the Merlot in full effect, blueberry and cassis scents, and just a background touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a lovely caressing texture, very well balanced with a touch of pepperiness towards the persistent finish. What a gorgeous Langoa!
