My Story of Lapis When I was a young mother living in London, I used to spend time in the British Museum while my son was at preschool. I kept returning to the same room. The jewellery worn by the Sumerian Queen Puabi. Deep blue stone set in gold, still in place after thousands of years. The whole space felt saturated with it. In the harp, in the details, everywhere I looked. That was where I first noticed lapis lazuli. It wasn’t just the colour. It was the sense of something valued, handled, and kept. That stayed with me. The work I make now comes from that moment. Not copying the past, just working with the same instinct. To take something real and shape it by hand. Each piece is slightly different. That matters. The same blue. Still in the hand. Each pair is individually hand-poured and finished in my studio, so no two are ever identical.
