Dans l’assemblage d’un poteau de bois, les sillons d’un béton matricé, la menuiserie d’une ouverture issue d’un champ de fers de récupération se loge parfois l’intention toute entière d’un projet. « N’importe où, à tout moment, une architecture, savante ou ordinaire, peut nous sortir de notre torpeur », dit Éric Lapierre dans les pages de ce numéro. Un élément architectural, un détail constructif, un simple motif n’ont pas uniquement un immense pouvoir d’évocation. Parfois, ils peuvent aussi composer ce que l’architecte français appelle « l’élément merveilleux, à partir duquel on va pouvoir déconstruire toute la logique poétique du projet ». Ce numéro d’AA explore quelques-uns de ces détails, qui fondent ou incarnent toute la poésie de leurs bâtiments, et qui peuvent uniquement provenir d’une intelligence non artificielle, celle de l’architecte. Whether in the assembly of a wooden post, the grooves of a die-cast concrete, the joinery from a field of salvaged iron, sometimes lies the entire intent of a project. "Anywhere, at any time, architecture, expert or ordinary, can shake us out of our torpor," says Éric Lapierre in this issue. An architectural element, a constructive detail or a simple pattern not only have immense evocative power, but sometimes can also compose what the French architect calls "the marvelous element, from which we can deconstruct the entire poetic logic of the project." This issue of AA explores some of these details, which underpin or embody all the poetry of their buildings, and which can only come from a non-artificial intelligence, that of the architect.
