Large hand-formed ceramic vase with petal-like details in hues of white, brown and blue. The Hydrangea vases feature irregular contours and surfaces, guiding the interaction betwee n glaze and clay—each time bringing forth novel variations of colour and expression. Left with a raw base of overlapping slabs of clay. Jennefer Hoffmann’s ideas for forms and details spontaneously come into being as an exchange between the clay and her aesthetic instinct. She alters between techniques of pinching and slab-building, her hands serving as different instruments to create varying textures and distinct expressions. You can often find traces from her fingers or a metal scraper, bestowing her pieces with a certain delicacy characteristic of her work. Show more
