A well-organised bedroom feels calmer and more spacious when clothing and linens can be stored neatly in one place. This large chest provides substantial storage and plenty of rustic antique character. The chest-on-chest design is formed in two separate sections, making it easier to move and position. Two smaller upper drawers sit above four full-width drawers, each fitted with turned wooden knobs and traditional keyholes. The mahogany-veneered drawer fronts display an attractive flowing grain, while the bracket feet and simple moulded top give the piece a restrained period-style appearance. The previous finish has been stripped back, and several coats of hard-wearing matte lacquer have been applied, helping to protect the timber while retaining its warm colour. Numerous age-related marks, scratches, small veneer losses and areas of wear remain throughout. These details form part of the chest’s well-used character and are for the most part shown in the photographs. The drawer fronts are finished with mahogany veneer over a solid timber frame, and the rear is constructed from a vertically fitted plank back. Its generous capacity, two-part construction and aged finish make it a practical choice for a larger bedroom. The visible signs of use give the piece a character that newer furniture rarely offers.[dimensions][w]108[/w][h]125[/h][d]53[/d][/dimensions]
