The large size measures 11 inches across and 11 1/2 inches tall, a good size for bigger houseplants on a bedside table, desk, or bench, and it serves just as well as an indoor plant basket at floor level, with or without the optional wooden stand, which lifts it 6 inches. Inside the handwoven walls sits a waterproof planting pot with drainage holes and a built-in drainage tray hidden down inside the basket. Water runs through the drainage holes into that tray instead of onto the weaving or the floor. Plant directly in the pot, or set your plant in its own nursery pot down inside, and lift the pot out whenever it is time to repot or water at the sink. Go by the diameter across the top of your plant's pot: an 8 1/4 inch pot works in the Medium Round Basket Planter, and this large planter gives the same plant room to grow. And like everything the families weave, this planter basket is a basket first. It is woven of rattan reed over a wood bottom, gently tapered toward the base, in Plain, Wine & Blue or Wine & Green trim to suit rustic, farmhouse, primitive, or vintage rooms. For a porch, a light coat of clear satin polyurethane spray before it goes out, renewed about once a year, protects the weave.
