Modern diesel emission systems incorporate technology that is designed to clean up the exhaust emissions as the exhaust gasses pass through the exhaust. One of the most popular sys tems uses a Urea solution, like AdBlue�, that is injected into the exhaust before the Catalytic convertor to convert the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) coming out of the engine into Nitrogen and water. When these systems fail the engine will initially fall into �limp mode� and if not corrected, eventually the vehicle OBD system may prevent the vehicle starting. Part of the diagnostic routine for these SCR (AdBlue� injection) systems is to measure the pressure in the system both electronically (via the OBD diagnostic software) and dynamically using pressure test gauges.
