This Medium Lashed Serpentine Toki is carved from a lighter grade of Serpentine Pounamu with its own unique mottled patterning within the stone and has been lashed with a fully adjustable black waxed cord & then completed with a matt finish The serpentine subgroup (part of the kaolinite-serpentine group) are greenish, brownish, or spotted minerals commonly found in serpentinite rocks. They are used as a source of magnesium and as a decorative stone. The name is thought to come from the greenish color being that of a serpent & the colors can range from various green shades to brown and yellow Toki (Adze) was an important Maori implement. In bone or stone, it was traditionally worn by Maori elders, as it represented power, wisdom, authority, strength, control, determination and focus. Measurements L 6.5cm W 3cm
