The Late Duke is often used for both cooking and fresh eating. The fruit hangs long on the tree and will often be picked first for cooking and later for fresh eating. The fruit is large light colored early and deep rich red when fully ripe. Yellow flesh, tender and juicy. If you desire late cherries plant this variety on a northern slope, against a northern wall or where in any way shaded or in a cool soil, these delicious cherries can be harvested into August in colder climates.
