Finnish designer Mikko Laakkonen drew from the forests of his homeland to create Latva, a wall-mounted coat rack whose name translates directly from Finnish as "treetop." The form is not literal, but the gesture is unmistakable: steel rods branch outward in a composition that reads as both drawing and object, flat against the wall yet alive with dimension. Constructed from welded steel rods, Latva carries the sensibility of sculpture into everyday use. Each rod becomes a hook, each angle a considered decision. The piece functions with quiet confidence whether it holds a coat and a bag or nothing at all. Empty, it holds its own as a wall-mounted work.
