Stan Laurel, born Arthur Stanley Jefferson in England, came to the U.S. in 1912 with a comedy troupe in which he performed. A Harlem, GA native Oliver Hardy began his career as a s inger. He and his wife moved to Los Angeles. He too found work with Hal Roach Studios, where Roach himself got the notion to put the two together.
