Lavender Drift is one of those landscapes where the colours almost don't seem possible. From above, soft lavender and dusty pink flow across the earth, broken by touches of ochre, pale blue and warm gold. I was drawn immediately to the colour, but then I started seeing the extraordinary detail underneath it—the cracked surfaces, tiny textures and the sweeping blue-lavender line moving across the top of the image. I love that you don't immediately know what you're looking at. The landscape has become something completely abstract, and for me that's where aerial photography gets really exciting. Lavender Drift is part of my Painted Earth series, where I explore the incredible colours, shapes and textures that nature creates when the landscape is viewed from above. Interior Design Suggestions Lavender Drift has a beautifully gentle palette, but there is enough variation and texture to keep it interesting.The lavender, blush, dusty blue and muted gold tones would work particularly well with warm whites, pale timber, natural stone, linen and soft neutral interiors. I can also see it working beautifully in a bedroom, where the subdued colour palette would bring colour to the room without making the space feel busy.This is another image I would encourage collectors to consider at a larger size. From across a room it reads almost like an abstract painting, while closer viewing reveals all the tiny cracks, patterns and variations in the earth.
