This pillar is one of our most inviting to touch. Each rock is so rounded, and the glass between is so smooth. So why wouldn’t you? That’s part of the fun. For us, that’s the reward at the end for it also being a very slow piece to create. It’s the kind of piece that makes us happy to have so many stones in the studio to choose from! They have to be the right size to progress from tiny to large and also the right color to blend from black at the bottom to off-white at the top. The varied colors of blue glass layered between need to match up in size and shape, too. The wild part is that after all of the fuss and fiddle of sizing (and then grinding the backs of each stone and glass for a custom fit), everything has to be taken out of the channel in the exact sequence so that each can individually be glued back into place in the correct order. There are just no shortcuts. But the results are so satisfying, why wouldn’t we? It’s worth it. You’re worth it. Framed in a contemporary black floater frame which leaves a gap between the inside edge of the frame and outside edge of the art so that visually you feel the pillar as a 3D object itself. Looks stone-like and heavy but weighs only 12 pounds, easily hung on a standard three nail picture hook. 61.5 inches long x 7.5 inches wide x 3-4 inches deep.
