A lead expansion joint is a mechanical joint deployed to manage thermal movement in gutter lining systems when the recommended length of a given colour code of lead will be exceede d where the fall of the gutter is insufficient to install a standard gutter step. A lead expansion joint consists of two strips of Code Red 2.24mm lead strips, vulcanized to a neoprene rubber insert in the middle. This flexible rubber core absorbs the expansion and contraction of lead sheet caused by thermal movement. Lead Code Red 2.24mm, length x 260mm Life expectancy is over 20 years.
