Leaf fish are known for their exceptional camouflage abilities, resembling dead leaves to ambush prey. They are found in freshwater habitats like the Amazon River basin and slow-mo ving rivers and creeks, often among submerged vegetation. These fish are typically brown, gray, or mottled, with a flattened body shape and a filament on the lower jaw that enhances their leaf-like appearance. They are ambush predators with a large, extendable mouth for quickly capturing prey like small fish and insects. Show more
