Description: In our sock class you will learn how to make a top down sock in three parts. You can make a heel of your choice: heel flap gusset or short row heel. Materials: Sock yarn, size 1 (2.25mm), 32”-40” circular needle, or size 1 DPN's or needle of your choice, locking stitch markers, darning needles, scissors. Pattern is provided in class. Please buy your class materials at Cast Away. Be sure to show up to class on time with materials ready or come early to shop. Homework: Cast on 56 sts, using US 1 (2.25mm), knit in the round in a 2X2 ribbing for 5 rounds, knit in stockinette stitch for next 20 rounds, then continue in 2x2 ribbing for 5 rounds, then bind off. Block it and bring it. Experience Needed: Basic knitting skills (cast on, cast off, knit, purl, rib, increase, decrease) and experience knitting in the round. Your choice of a small circumference knitting method (DPNs or Magic Loop) will be used, basic knowledge/experience of either method is recommended but not required. What you'll learn: Students will learn German Twisted Cast On, Heel Flap and short row heel styles, gusset decrease, toe decrease and Kitchener stitch.
