This Leather Dog Muzzle is made from our high quality Latigo leather. Hand crafted from our Amish suppliers, this muzzle is second to none in terms of safety and comfort. These are very similar in style to our Agitation Dog Muzzle but it does not have the reinforced nose piece. It is made with heavy duty leather sides, a full head strap and has a felt liner for the dogs comfort. We use these often in Muzzle protection, security, Police and Military work as they are a very tough muzzle. They are also good for very aggressive dogs and the full head strap makes it virtually impossible for the dogs to get them off. These are a great Muzzle for aggressive dogs, dogs that need to be kept away from wounds etc. The dog can open its mouth to pant, drink or even bark, it just cannot bite. These muzzles can be worn for extended periods of time without inhibiting the dogs breathing, drinking, panting or stress responses. These muzzles weigh in at 450 grams. Occlusive muzzles that stop the dog opening their mouths often induce a high degree of stress in a dog and aggressive responses etc elevate, our basket style muzzles won’t do this. Measuring your dog for a muzzle & sizes Step 1: Measure the length of the snout. Measure the dog's snout length. This should be from 1-2cm below the eyes to the tip of the nose This should be taken along the top of the dog's nose as shown below. Step 2: Measure the circumference of the snout. Measure the circumference of the snout as the widest point. This should be done again 1-2cm below the eyes, wrapped all the way around the snout with the mouth closed. Step 3: Allow for pant room. You must allow for an extra 2-3cm on each side of the muzzle (4-6 cm total). This is so your dog can open their mouth to pant breathe and bark as needed. Some important things to note on selecting the right size. 1) The length of the actual muzzle CANNOT be longer than your dog's muzzle length, or it will ride up into their eyes. If your dog's muzzle length is 6cm for example, you could not fit them with the size 1 or size 2 muzzle. 2) You need to make sure the muzzle size you choose has a circumference measurement approx 2-4cm bigger than your dog's circumference measurement or they will not be able to open their mouths comfortably to pant.
