Steps for Operation:We recommend sharpening and honing blade often to achieve best results! Step 1: Mount splitting machine to table using screws, with the blade orientated facing away from you. Step 2: Loosen the locking wheel located on the right side of the machine, by turning it all the way to the left. Step 3: Adjust the thickness of split, using the two twist screws located on top of the blade, and on either side (the screws are black and gold). The screws can be fine tuned, so that the blade is uniform and even across your leather. Step 4: Push handle forward to lower the roller, then insert your leather between the blade and roller (the tension bar should rest on top of your leather). Step 5: To skive off the thickness of a strap end, push the strap through up to edge of the blade where you wish the skive to begin, and then push the handle forward until the roller makes snug contact with the strap. Step 6: Tighten the locking wheel, by turning it all the way to the right. Step 7: Pull back on your piece to begin the skive, the tension bar will hold the leather down to ensure a uniform skive. Step 8: Run through your strap again if you need a deeper skive. Notes: Attach to your work table before using, the splitter will be much harder and less safe to use if not properly mounted to a work surface. Not recommended for softer, chrome-tanned leathers. Best used with veg tan, or firmer leathers. It is very important to keep a sharp blade for effective use. 5.2kg total weight.
