Lectins, a form of protein, are abundant in foods you eat and high concentrations are found in foods like beans/legumes and grains (gluten, corn and wheat in particular). Whilst lectins can be reduced by cooking processes you can’t eliminate them totally. Your body can’t digest or remove these very easily. The cell lining of your gut is packed with healthy gut sugars, which the Lectins can attach to. Once stuck to a sugar molecule, the body sees this as a foreign molecule and so the immune system is alerted and it reacts by signalling your white blood cells, which can result in inflammation. To help disrupt this process, Metabolics Lectin Support contains alternative (decoy) sugars for the lectins to bind to instead, these are: N acetyl glucosamine, a monosaccharide and derivative of glucose. It is the most abundant sugar that occurs naturally in the body. Bladderwrack, a seaweed which is known to be a rich source of Fucose. Larch arabinogalactan, a natural substance sourced from the wood of the Larch tree. It is a fibre rich complex carbohydrate. D-Mannose, a sugar monomer of the aldohexose series of carbohydrates.
