The Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH., upgraded in 2022, stands out as one of the most adaptable lenses for M-mount rangefinders. This wide-angle lens is distinguished by its advanced optical design and a bright maximum aperture of f/1.4. Available in black, it is particularly effective for low-light photography and provides exceptional control over depth of field, making it ideal for selective focus techniques. This lens incorporates a newly developed double cam mechanism that reduces the minimum focusing distance to a mere 1.3 feet, facilitating dynamic close-up photography. Furthermore, it features an enhancement from nine to eleven aperture blades, resulting in significantly improved bokeh quality. The optical configuration includes one aspherical element to mitigate spherical aberrations and distortion, thereby enhancing sharpness and clarity. Additionally, a floating elements system is employed to ensure consistent performance across the entire focusing range. A newly designed pull-out lens hood has been added to the front of the lens, effectively reducing ghosting and flare by blocking unwanted stray light. Versatile general wide-angle prime features a bright, fast f/1.4 maximum aperture to benefit working in low-light conditions and for greater control over depth of field. Improved minimum focusing distance of just 1.3' enables dynamic close-up imagery. One aspherical element controls spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness. Floating elements system achieves consistent image quality throughout the focusing range. Upgraded eleven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques. Newly designed with an integrated pull-out lens hood, the front of the lens also includes 46mm-diameter threads to accept optional filters.
