The silver Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH. from Leica is crafted as a reference lens for the M-mount system, offering a versatile normal-length prime with a bright maximum aperture and an advanced optical design. This lens consists of eight elements arranged in five groups, incorporating one aspherical element to minimize spherical aberrations. Furthermore, it utilizes glasses with both anomalous partial dispersion and high refractive index to effectively manage color fringing and chromatic aberrations, enhancing overall clarity. A floating elements system is also integrated to ensure consistent image quality across the entire focusing range, extending down to 2.3 feet. Additionally, the lens is equipped with a built-in extendable lens hood and is designed to accommodate 46mm screw-in filters. Versatile normal-length prime lens is characterized by a bright, fast f/1.4 maximum aperture to control depth of field for selective focus techniques, as well as to benefit working in low-light conditions.
