IMPORTER NOTES:OVERVIEW: “Further east and upstream of the Klosterlay is the Magdalenenkreuz, where Leitz farms vines 30+ years in age. The name translates to ‘the cross of Mary Ma gdalene’, named after a red sandstone cross that can be found amongst the vines. Here the soils are comprised of sandy loam—fatter and ideal for ripe expression"TASTING: "The riesling grown here is always textured, opulent and forward. Though the wine is of Spätlese quality it perceivably drinks more like a Kabinett.”ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “Under the direction of Johannes Leitz, Weingut Josef Leitz has earned the reputation of being one of Rheingau’s top growers and moreover, one of the finest producers in Germany.
