Keeping Sacred Time: Devotionals for the Christian Year Lent is a season of preparation—a time when we ready our hearts to receive the good news that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has delivered us from sin, evil, and death. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, this 40-day pilgrimage recalls Jesus’s own preparation time in the wilderness. As we follow him, we’re called to turn from wrongdoing, to strip back our dependencies, and to align ourselves more closely with Christ as we anticipate his Easter victory over death.
