After m any heroes failed to take down it down, Heracles was tasked to slay the lion. Arrows bounced off the beast, and Heracles had no choice but to fight the Nemean Lion with his bare hands. He was eventually victories and fashioned a cloak from the lion's hide using its own claws. The gods then raised the body of the Nemean Lion into the stars as Leo.
