Pectinia are large polyp stony (LPS) corals. They have an encrusting base but grow forming little cups with spiny protrusions. A large colony is usually cabbage-like in appearance. For this reason, they are sometimes called “Cabbage corals.” Pectinia corals appear in a variety of colors and patterns. Pectinia corals require low to moderate lighting. We recommend 100-125 PAR. Bear in mind that most corals can be gradually adapted to lighting conditions outside of their normal preferences. Pectinia corals also need moderate water movement.
