Make your own mug and try out ceramics in your first hand-building class. Discover the foundations of hand-building with clay in this relaxed and creative taster session, using only your hands and simple tools to create a mug. The class is designed for complete beginners and focuses on building confidence with clay using simple, intuitive techniques. Over the two hours you will be shown basic hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling, working on one piece that you can add your own flair to. Depending on the simplicity of your mug you will have time to paint simple designs using underglaze. There are also five coloured glazes to choose from if you would prefer a coloured glaze. The possibilities are endless! Our taster sessions are designed as a first introduction to ceramics. They’re a fun, hands-on way to try clay and get a feel for the process. As this is just a starting point, your first piece may be simple and imperfect & that’s part of the charm! If you’d like to develop your skills further and create more finished work, we recommend joining one of our Level 1 Courses. You will need to keep your nails short for this class.
