Intermediate Stone Carving Course taught by Zoë Wilson in her studio in Hampshire, UK. Once you've attended a level one beginners course with Zoë (or emailed her if you have previous experience) this new two day carving course is designed to build on your skills and develop your carving ability further. As with level one, Zoë can accommodate up to 6 students on the course, creating a friendly, fun environment. Students will learn in a group and also receive 1:1 guidance with plenty of time to concentrate on their individual work. Location: The course will take place in Zoë’s studio at Project Workshops near Andover in Hampshire. SP11 8PX. There is ample parking on site including disabled access. Zoë’s studio is in older building in the main courtyard with green painted woodwork. About the course: The course runs over two days. the first day is 10am till 4.30pm and the second 9am till 3.30pm You will be guided through drawing a Celtic knot pattern and setting out your design onto the stone. In this course we will be looking at curved lines and how to achieve a shallow relief carving within the stone. You will be taught how to carve your design using a traditional mallet and chisel. Zoë will provide all carving tools and the stone to work on as well as everything you will need for drawing the design such as pencils, compasses, ruler etc. There will be a tea break in the morning and the afternoon. Hot drinks are included but it is advisable to bring a bottle of water. A delicious lunch will be provided by TJ Brews, please advise us in advance of any dietary requirements. Health and Safety: Zoe Wilson takes safety very seriously and a briefing on Health and Safety is part of every course. Safety goggles and dust masks will be provided but it is up to the individual if they wish to wear them. Sturdy covered shoes must be worn in the studio, steel toecaps are not essential but a good idea if you have them. Zoë will advise on best practice for health and safety but it is up to the individual to follow these guidelines. Zoe Wilson does not accept responsibility for injury to students or loss or damage to their property. The studio does have heaters but the room can be cold especially on cold Winter days, please bring adequate layers! Every effort will be made to fill your place, however a refund can only be given if this has been possible. Should the course be cancelled for any reason all money paid will be refunded. Should you be late for the course please email or phone Zoë as soon as possible. If you were more than one hour late it would not be possible to join in as you would have missed too much. Zoë may need to leave promptly at the end of the course because of childcare needs so asks if you would kindly move pack up in a timely manor Participants are responsible for their own transport to and from the course location.
