We're delighted to welcome Geoffrey Healy to Throwing Shapes for a two-day wheel throwing masterclass designed to help you progress your throwing practice, whatever stage you're at. Taking place over Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 of September, 10:00am – 4:00pm, this workshop is aimed at Level 2 throwers who are confident centring approximately 1kg of clay and are ready to refine their technique, tackle new challenges, and build confidence at the wheel. Rather than following one set project, this masterclass is tailored to each participant. On booking the workshop, you'll complete a short questionnaire outlining the area of throwing you'd most like to develop. Whether you're hoping to throw larger forms, join thrown sections together, improve consistency, tackle particular forms such as teapots, or troubleshoot a particular challenge, Geoffrey will meet you where you're at and guide you towards your own goals. The weekend will begin with a throwing demonstration, giving students the opportunity to observe Geoffrey's approach to making, hear how he thinks through the process, and pick up practical tips and techniques before moving into their own making. Throughout the two days, there will be plenty of individual guidance, demonstrations, discussion, and one-to-one support, allowing students to develop their skills in a focused and encouraging environment. This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to move beyond the fundamentals of wheel throwing and gain personalised tuition from one of Ireland's most respected production potters. About the Artist: Geoffrey Healy is an Irish ceramic artist and production potter based in County Wicklow, where he established his studio in 1979. After studying ceramics at Derby College of Art and undertaking a travelling scholarship to Japan, he built an internationally recognised career exhibiting, teaching, and consulting both in Ireland and abroad. His work has been exhibited with Ceramics Ireland, at Showcase Ireland, the Common Earth Ceramics Exhibition, and The Museum of Modern Art, as well as in exhibitions across Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States. With over 45 years of experience, Geoffrey is known for his thoughtful approach to functional pottery and his wealth of technical knowledge, bringing a calm and supportive teaching style to every workshop.
