An interesting plant grown for its summer flowers that dangle in pendant racemes of red bracts tipped with white blooms. These are followed by edible fall berries that taste of car amel flambé (a dessert favorite of the birds anyway…). Vigorous deciduous shrub with a soft arching form, about 6' high and wide; less in colder climates where canes will die back to the ground below 15 °F and quickly re-sprout in spring… Sun to dappled shade in a sheltered position, free draining soil (dislikes heavy, soggy spots).
