Liatris chapmanii, named for southeastern US plant explorer, A.W. Chapman, is an endemic to a small region along the borders of Georgia, Alabama, and south into much of Florida, wh ere it occurs in sandy scrub land. The 2-3' tall stalks of 3" long, narrow foliage is topped, starting for us, in mid-September with spikes of tightly-clustered small purple flowers...one of the later blazing stars to flower. We have succeeded with Liatris chapmanii in our full sun crevice garden, since excellent drainage is essential. Show more
