The first step of the BOOST system, and the reason it earned its reputation. BOOST is built on pure cysteamine — not thioglycolate, and not the cysteamine HCL most "cysteamine" sys tems actually use. Pure cysteamine lifts at its own gentle, naturally basic pH, so none of the harsh alkaline adjusters — ammonia, ethanolamine — have to be added back in. That's why the free-from list reads the way it does, and why it's mild enough to take to the very tips of the lashes without over-processing. It's also the smallest of the three common reducing agents — 77 g/mol, versus roughly 114 for cysteamine HCL — so it penetrates the hair more efficiently.
