Early in the morning before the suns rays come over the mountains. The Zuni people pray to Sun Father for the blessing of his light. Deer Antler is used to carve this small scale Sun Father. His divine eyes are inlaid with Black Pen Shell. The boarder above his eyes are of Black Pen Shell and Gold Mother of Pearl. The Blue is inlaid Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and the Red/Orange is Spiny Oyster Shell. The Eagle Plume is carved of Gold Mother of Pearl and wrapped in Sterling Silver secured into the antler. His mouth is inlaid with Sleeping Beauty Turquoise. The burnished crown serves as his light. His necklaces are inlaid with Mediterranean Coral, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and Lapis. The sash belt is designed with Red Pipe Stone pigment with Light Green Serpentine inlay. His ceremonial robe is folded over his arms with triangles of Lapis, Serpentine and Red Pipe Stone pigments. Inlaid with Light Green Serpentine, Mediterranean Coral and Malachite. On the bottom of the robe is a stone to stone inlay of Black Pen Shell, Lapis, Kingman Turquoise and Abalone. The kilt is inlaid with Black Jet pigment with Mediterranean Coral. The moccasins have inlaid single Sleeping Beauty Turquoise buttons with burnished soles. Bring his light home to you.
