HOW TO BREW: Bagged: Use 1 tea bag per 16 oz of 195 ºF water. Begin drinking when temperature is comfortable but never remove tea bag. Loose Leaf: Use 2 Tb per 16 oz 195 ºF water and steep a minimum of 7 minutes. Will get progressively spicier the longer it steeps! Add sweetness if you prefer. May be re-steeped several times. Enjoy! Teaching Herbalism Through Tea Craft Intentional moment with Fire: When I need to bring Fire within and spark my inner light, I reach to the Sun. A life giver to our existence. I reach my hand to the sky, facing the sun. I then allow the sun’s rays to shoot between my fingers and see that it is holding my hand. I soak up this bonding moment. I then open my heart to bring the bright light in and soak up with warmth. Feel my inner light spark, and turn up the flame. Look at the color of my inner light and see it in all its beauty. Another exercise is to light a candle or fire and watch it burn. See fire, remember our ancient relationship when it brought us out of darkness. See it for all its power and recognize that I, too, contain fire. I am 98.6 degrees at all times. My fire burns. We are kin. I chose the herbs for Light the Ember for the following reasons: Damiana is a light bringer. Not only does it light a fire in one’s libido, but it also lightens up darkness or sadness. I call upon Damiana quite often when I’m feeling down for an extended period of time. Hawthorn leaf is a heart tonic like no other and it was invited to simultaneously bring heart nourishing and emotional support. Rosehips come from the heart supportive Rose plant. Rosehips are a little “warmer” than the petals so they were chosen particularly for this blend. Rose has long been noted as a caretaker of broken hearts. Stinging Nettle is a force. Not only can it take care of itself quite well, it can take care of others like nothing I’ve ever seen. This plant has heart. It will zap you and stop you in your tracks if you don’t take notice of it and has much to teach us about self esteem. Orange has long been noted for its ability to lift our moods while ginger root warms us to the core. Turmeric root knows how to warm us while not allowing the fire to burn too hot and turn to inflammation; it knows all about the right kind of light. Rosemary is a plant wisdom keeper bringing energy and circulation while cayenne stokes our inner fire like few else. Our Packaging Our packaging is intentionally minimal and environmentally conscious. The kraft bags holding our teas are recycled and compostable. The inner lining is plant based and the outer layer is FDA approved recycled natural Kraft. Tin tie closures need to be removed prior to sending it to compost heap. Our unbleached tea bags are sealed with a food grade staple and no chemical sealant. Each is compostable, as well as the herbs inside, once staple is removed. They love to return to the earth.
