Based on our testing, our unit is actually BETTER than IPG’s. On their Youtube video showing their the IPG technician welding 2mm aluminium, I clock their welding speed at approx. 7mm/s with Lightwelder 1500W. In contrast, our Lightwelder15 on 3mm aluminium (50% thicker again) clocks in at 12mm/s, and with full penetration, melting the back face and passing a severe bend test. Beware of imitations with low power output. We have been made aware of copies of our Lightwelder15 and also a new unit by Max Photonics claiming to be 1500 Watts but their actual output is 1300W. Some versions are reportedly down on power substantially, at approximately 1000W. They also need a power transformer to work with Australia’s 240V+10% single phase power specification (250V is typical in Melbourne). Much faster and neater than TIG.
