Lime is an energising and uplifting essential oil, you can’t help but feel invigorated upon inhaling its zesty aroma. There are many similarities it shares with Lemon, including being native to India and also sharing historical uses, such as being used by the British sailors (leading them to be referred to as ‘Limeys’) to protect them against scurvy. The Lime tree is relatively small and reaches just 8ft producing small white flowers and green fruits around half the size of Lemons. Limes are divided into two types. Type 1: Key, which is more of a sour fruit and type 2: Persian which is a larger fruit, seedless and sweeter. Lime is now grown for its fruit and essential oil in many parts of the world especially the West Indies. The essential oil is aromatically a top note and blends well with most oils lifting a blend, sweetening medicinal oils.
