It could be tied or fastened around the head to serve as a base for attaching headwear, or it could be used over the top of headwear to help hold them in place and as a decorative element. This fillet is designed to tie around your head and is a great base onto which you can pin a veil, wimple, cap, or more elaborate headwear. It is suitable for a range of personas throughout the middle ages. The fillet measures 50cm long by 10cm wide. It has four ties (two on each end) which are approximately 42cm long. The length is enough to wrap around your head once with a generous amount to tie in a bow at the back, or to wrap around your head twice, tying the ties in a knot at the front. It is made of natural colour 100% Baltic linen at 150 GSM (grams per square meter, indicating fabric weight). Fillets were popular throughout the medieval period.
