The Lion Energy batteries are now more dependable than ever, especially in cold weather or cold temperatures. Lion batteries are such a great product but just like any other battery cells, may it be lead-acid batteries, deep cycle batteries, or lithium ions, an optimal battery temperature is needed to ensure their efficiency. The ambient temperature or proper temperature range may be a little hard to acquire when you are out and about on an adventure. One of the beauties of having portable power as a power source is the freedom to explore places. However, extreme conditions with colder temperatures or even below-freezing temperatures may be a hindrance and may create permanent damage to the batteries. It can lessen the battery performance and battery life or even decrease the battery's capacity. Low temperatures also in the winter with a sudden drop in overnight temperatures can be a big deal. This prompted Lion Energy to fill the need for a Battery Warmer. As part of a battery's special care, all batteries need to be at a certain temperature in order to charge them. With winter season or cold camping trips the Lion Energy Battery Warmer is truly the perfect solution! It can charge between temps of 32° and 113°F and can discharge between -4° and 131°F at a 100% rate. • ALL types of batteries need to be above freezing in order to charge them. As a result, it is best to use the batteries in a climate-controlled location (not on the tongue of a trailer or using a lead acid battery compartment that has to be ventilated, thus allowing freezing air to circulate around the battery). • The Safari UT and other lithium batteries can be placed in an insulated space, inside the RV, or in other climate-controlled areas. Some users have suggested using a Battery Heating Pad that you can find online. We recommend using the battery in a climate-controlled location.
