Nitrogen fixing perennial to 1.2m high. Roots are edible raw - they are the source of common liquorice. Should be planted in a warm, sunny, and sheltered spot with deep, well-drain ing sandy loam or loamy soil (pH 6.5-8.0). Deeply drought-tolerant.
