Old-vine Semillon nurtured organically by Jeff Traeger in his Vine Vale vineyard grown on sandy soils over deep yellow clay. The Semillon grapes were hand-picked & whole-bunch pressed in our screw press, allowing for a gentle, phenolic extraction. After pressing, the juice was settled overnight and racked clear to begin a clean, steady fermentation in Stainless Steel. About a month later, Sauvignon Blanc was hand-picked from the later ripening, organically certified Lansdowne Vineyard in Forreston. This site produce fragrant, balanced fruit on Schist & red clay soils. The Sauvignon Blanc underwent the same winemaking approach as the Semillon. Once both had completed alcoholic & malolactic fermentation, they were blended to create a 60% Sauvignon Blanc / 40% Semillon final blend. The wine was raised in stainless steel, with 20% aged in Barriques for six months. Bottled on site at our Basket Range winery.
