Lithium Carbonate is used in ceramics as a source for Lithium in making glazes. A major flux for higher temperature (Cone 5-10) alkaline glazes, it tends to produce fluid glazes wi th glossy surfaces. Though costly compared to its sodium and potassium carbonate cousins, it is far less soluble, fluxes similarly (strongly), and thwarts crazing due to its low atomic weight and coefficient of expansion.
